Death from a Distance

The following tale is based on something the late Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold witnessed from his office in the Secretariat building overlooking the New York City Harbour.

he man was sitting at his desk in his office on the eleventh floor of an office building overlooking the harbor.

As he looked out the window, he saw the police and ambulance attendants dragging the body of a woman with long blonde hair out of the river.

After watching them put her body on stretcher, then cover it with a black sheet and sliding into the ambulance … he shoveled some papers on his desk and went back to work.
